Throughout the month of September, WWW.READY.GOV is providing essential tips and information on how to promote preparedness. Every week this month will focus on specific information organize plans for your family, community and even how to do your part in helping first responders in case of an emergency.
WEEK 3: SEPTEMBER 17 – 23, “PRACTICE AND BUILD OUT YOUR PLANS”
- Complete an Emergency Financial First Aid Kit. What important documents would you need? The EFFAK helps to explain them all! Important document prep tip: Make digital copies of important documents and save them on the cloud or a secure cell phone app in case disaster strikes.
- Maintain emergency savings for use in case of an emergency. Bills still need to be paid, even after a disaster! Financial prep tip: Gather & store critical personal, household, & medical information for easy access during a disaster.
- Participate in an emergency drill.
- Know how to access community resources (e.g., shelters, food banks) and learn your local evacuation routes. Search online today!
