At this weekend’s Oregon Trail Rally the Seehorn Rally Team of Jeff Seehorn and Karen Jankowski scored wins in there Restricted Open 4wd class, both Saturday and Sunday Regional events, and finished on the overall podium in 3rd alongside the Subaru factory team. With a new car that was just recently completed prior to this event, the team could leverage their prior success at this event into an extremely successful weekend.
“Karen & I both have had success at this event in the past so that confidence really makes a difference when you are starting the season in a brand-new car, in a new class and in a new series. I couldn’t ask for a better weekend overall as it was a great shakedown for the car, especially with our next event only 3 weeks from now. Even though we haven’t raced together since last May, we were able to get up to speed very quickly which really made the difference. That coupled with our hard-working incredible crew who kept the car running smooth all weekend, it was a really fun event” Jeff stated.
The event started for the Seehorn Rally team with Portland’s Fox news reporter Joe V. getting the ride of his life in the team’s new car with cameras rolling and interviewing Jeff before and after www.kptv.com. Then the next morning Karen was interviewed on KPAM radio by Charlie Maxton to discuss the Oregon Trail rally coming to the Dufur/Goldendale areas and the local team of Seehorn Rally. All in all, this weekend’s event was great exposure for the team and their sponsors as the TV spot ran all day in Portland (area population 2.2M) and radio spot ran throughout the weekend.
“We love telling every person we can about our wonderful sport of stage rally and we do so every chance we get. This weekend between the TV and radio interviews plus the thousands of fans that came to see us race we had a great chance to do that” explained Karen.
The American Rally Association (ARA) and its championships are new for 2017 and the team is very excited to compete in its first year. “Competing in a new championship, in a new car and in a new class is exciting and definitely poses a lot of challenges as well. If it wasn’t for our sponsor partners this season we wouldn’t be here so we want to dedicate this win to them” explained Karen.
The goal of the weekend for the team was to shakedown the new car, gain as many points possible in the championship and get maximum exposure for the team’s sponsors that made the event possible for them.
Explains Jeff: “I was extremely happy with how well the car performed all weekend for its first outing. Our Maxxis tires held up awesome with great wear and grip all weekend. Our Fishhead built engine ran strong to the finish and handled all the abuse we put it through. We hit some big water splashes this weekend and our Scrubblade wipers were on top of it. Our wrap turned out amazing thanks to Jerm Designs, everyone commented throughout the weekend on how much they loved the new look. It’s a great start to the season and I feel very fortunate that we have great partners helping us along the way”.
The Seehorn Rally Team’s bid for the class title will see them crisscrossing the nation for the 5 USA rounds of the championship. The next stop is the Olympus Rally May 13-14 in Shelton, Washington www.olympusrally.com.
